Michael currently plays shows and sessions in the Greater Boston area, and can be seen regularly with Americana/roots songwriters Susan Cattaneo, Frank Drake, and Tom Hagerty, and occasionally performs with songwriters Ethan Robbins (Cold Chocolate), Greg Klyma, Nancy Hewett, Kelly Riley, Patrick Coman, and bands such as Chris Hersh & the Moonraiders, The Bagboys, Alan Kaufman’s Joint Chiefs Of Retrograss, True Life Bluegrass, fiddler Laura Orshaw (New Velvet Band), & guitarist Tony Watt.
Other recent performances include Bill Kirchen (Titan Of The Telecaster), Sarah Levecque, Danielle Miraglia, Amy Fairchild, Vance Gilbert, Jimmy Ryan, Sam Reid & the Riot Act, and The Twangbusters, The Clockburners, Amy Kucharik, and Tony Savarino & The Savtones. .
He regularly teaches music theory and dobro workshops for the Boston Bluegrass Union.
Michael lives on the North Shore of Boston with his wife, Andrea.
Having parents who were both music teachers exposed him to a wide variety of music. Right after high school, Michael toured the US as a bassist & tenor banjo player with the Great Rubber Band, a humorous, multi-faceted show band. Michael has recorded with Northern Lights guitarist Bill Henry on his “Red Sky” cd, playing bass behind the fiddle of Tim O’Brien. The
disc also features Vassar Clements, Sam Bush, Taylor & Jake Armerding. In his louder music days, Michael played and recorded rock, funk, jazz, and blues with a variety of well-known local, national, and international players.

In the early 90’s, he enjoyed playing a regular monthly duo with Barry Cowsill, of the legendary Partridge-prototype family band, the Cowsills.
